COVID-19 NOTICE

Dear our wonderful patients and parents,

We are happy to announce that we re-opened starting June 1st, 2020 per Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and our Public Health Officer. Thank you so much for your support and understanding during this difficult time.

Please note that as a result of COVID-19, we have updated some of our daily procedures. You'll still receive the same great service from our dedicated team, however to ensure the safety of all our patients we've implemented some changes mentioned in the previous message that you will find below.

Again, thank you so much for your support. We're happy to continue serving you, and can't wait to see your smile!

Sincerely,

Your dental family at San Jose Dental Specialists
Dr. Daniel Nguyen, Dr. Suzanne Nguyen, and Team

 PATIENT SCREENING FORMS

We ask that our patients fill out the following forms prior to your appointment with us. They are both quite similar, for this reason we hope that you understand the redundancy, but the forms are important to monitor any symptoms before and on the day of the appointment. We just want to make sure that everyone is safe.

A parent or guardian will also need to complete the screening forms if you wish to come into the office with the patients.

1. PRE-SCREENING FORM. To be completed at the time you make an appointment with us or before you come to the office

2. IN-OFFICE SCREENING FORM. To be completed on the day of the appointment when you arrive at the office.

The doctors and team at San Jose Dental Specialists want to ensure you that your health is our highest priority.  We have trained and educated our team regarding COVID-19 and have enhanced some of our office protocols to ensure the highest level of safety and health.

INTRODUCING MOBILE CHECK-IN

NEW COVID-19 OFFICE PROTOCOL

Please note that there will be no restroom access until further notice. Thank you for your understanding!

We continue to observe the following high standards to ensure that San Jose Dental Specialists is a safe place to be for our patients and and staff:

- Before you enter the examining room, all surfaces, such as the dental chair, dental light, drawer handles and countertops, have been cleaned and disinfected thoroughly with medical grade disinfectants that kill 99.9% of all harmful bacteria and viruses.

- Disposable protective coverings on equipment are disposed of and replaced after each patient visit. Disposable dental tools and needles are always disposed of and never reused.

- Non-disposable items such as dental tools and instruments are cleaned and sterilized between patients using hospital grade sterilization equipment. Our sterilization equipment is monitored and tested on a regular basis.

ADDITIONAL SAFEGUARDS

On top of our daily safeguards, we also invest to protect your health and well-being with proper “Personal Protective Equipment” (PPE) and the following measures:

WHAT WE ASK FROM OUR WONDERFUL PATIENTS

 - If you are sick, running a fever, coughing or not feeling well, please reschedule your appointment and do not enter the office. We are happy to reschedule your appointment at no charge and we thank you for considering the health of others.

- If you are healthy and you come for your regular appointment, please use a tissue when coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose, throw the tissue away, and wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water afterwards. Using hand sanitizer of 60-70% alcohol concentration is also acceptable for washing hands.  We offer hand sanitizer at the front desk and in every operatory!

- If you have traveled to any areas outside of U.S. within two weeks of your scheduled appointment, please contact our office and reschedule.

MESSAGE to our current ORTHODONTIC PATIENTS:

Please follow the following guidance as reference to your case to make sure that your treatments continue to progress on track.

  • Expander:  please stop turning after you have done enough turns as instructed at last visit.  Remember to keep the expander clean with frequent cleaning. Waterpik Waterflosser is highly recommended as an adjunct to brushing and rinsing after each meals

  • Rubber bands, Elastics: Wash your hands before you use your elastics. You can continue wearing your elastics the same way as prescribed. However you can stop the rubber bands for now if your bite becomes uncomfortable. If you are not sure, please contact us. Attach a photo in your email or text if you can.

  • Headgear and Facemask: just like elastics, continue to wear your appliance and let us know if you have any questions.  Remember that the magic number is 14 hours/day or more.

  • Invisalign: if you need more trays, please let us know and we will try to see if we can mail more trays to you.  If you are at your last trays, it is ok to wear that same set until we can see you again to make sure your teeth are not shifting back, and night time wear is OK for now. Please keep them clean though.

  • Retainers: it is prudent that you continue to wear your retainers as instructed to avoid relapse or unwanted tooth movement.

  • Separators: if you have separators placed at last visit in preparation for band fitting next, and if your separators fell off, that is totally fine. It just means that the space is big enough and could not hold the small separators in place any more.  If they are still in place, you can just floss them out. We will place them back when we return with our normal schedule.
